At the far west is the flat marsh landscape and the Wadden Sea. Here are vast expanses and a horizon so endless that one can feel quite small on the edge of the sea. The Wadden Sea is, at one moment, a dry bottom, as far as the eye can see, and a few hours later completely flooded by the sea.

Lægan pumping station
The pumping station is one of 4 pumping stations in the Marsh which ensure a drainage of the marsh area.The 4 stations together can pump 16,000 liters of water per second.

The seal is the biggest predator in the Wadden Sea National Park and here you find a large population of common seal. On board the former fishing boat Rosa Paluka we have great possibilities to get close to the sandbanks without disturbing the seals when they rest.

On the 54 km long hiking route you will experience the very special marsh landscape. On the trail you will experience everything from dikes and pumping stations to marsh landscapes, canals and lakes with unique nature and bird life.

Lakolk Beach - Rømø
Visit one of Europes widest sandbeaches. Here are good swimming opportunities - also for small children, who can go splashing about in the large number of shallow lakes left by the outgoing sea. You can also surf on small as well as on large North Sea waves.The beach is an eldoorado for kite enthusiasts. Thousands of them flock to the beach, particulary during the first weekend on september, when on of the biggest kite festivals of Europe is held on Rømø.Here is also a popular place for horseriding. From may to october you can rent a horse or a pony on the Lakolk beach.
