The Spectacle bench
Take a seat on the blue spectacle-shaped bench and look out over the Vild med Vilje area, with its path, planted beds, dead hedge and art.
On a small rise in the Vild med Vilje area in Havnbjerg on Als, you’ll find a bench shaped like a giant pair of blue spectacles. Take a seat and enjoy the view across the area, while cut-out designs depicting local wildlife add an extra element for children to explore.
The area was created by the local association Aktivt Havnbjerg Sogn on land owned by the municipality. It features a path, planted beds, a dead hedge, artwork and benches.
An artwork by Vibeke Fonnesberg
The spectacle bench was unveiled on 16 May 2025 and is the final artwork by local painter and sculptor Vibeke Fonnesberg (1946–2024).
Vibeke Fonnesberg was unable to complete the work herself. Following her detailed preparations and conversations with her during her final days in hospital, the artwork was completed after her death by her son, Johannes Lautrup Fonnesberg.
