Kunst Museum Panbo

You’ll find Kunst Museum Panbo between Aabenraa and Rødekro – possibly Denmark’s first sustainable museum.

“We believe it is Denmark’s – Europe’s – perhaps the world’s first sustainable museum,” says Christian Panbo.

Christian Panbo opened the art museum on Good Friday in 2018 at Egelund 5, 6200 Aabenraa.

It is located on the same property as the company Christian Panbo A/S, which for many years has produced sustainable wooden houses. The exterior of the museum is built using the same sustainable timber planks/heartwood from northern Sweden as those used in all the company’s wooden houses.

Experience many remarkable paintings by Eckersberg, works by the Skagen painters, and selected works by other prominent artists up close.

Until now, the artworks have hung on the walls of Christian Panbo A/S to the great enjoyment of the employees. Now, however, Christian Panbo has built his own art museum and opened access to these impressive paintings to the public.

Christian Panbo will most often act as curator in the museum himself, combining this with an extra desk and meeting table so that he can continue preparing house calculations from the museum’s small office.

There is also a café in connection with the museum, where you can buy coffee and cake, among other things. Smørrebrød/lunch can be ordered in advance, no later than a couple of days before your visit.

Payment can be made in cash or via the App MobilePay.

Please note:
Always check the website before your visit, as there may be days when the museum is closed due to events or holidays.
